The Hiawatha Light Rail Line is being rebranded as the METRO Blue Line. The Blue Line is the first of the Twin Cities METRO system of rapid transit lines which include METRO Red Line Bus Rapid Transit on Cedar Ave. METRO Blue Line trains will now have three cars and will run every ten minutes throughout most of the day. Twelve new light-rail vehicles dedicated to the line will allow this increased service capacity. During the kickoff event Metro Transit staff handed out Blue line pens, new sched

Buses are running running in place of Blue Line trains on the south end of the line due to “unscheduled maintenance,” Metro Transit said.

The agency is working to repair overhead power lines between 46th Street Station and Terminal 2 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

“These repairs could take most of the day,” Metro Transit said. “We appreciate your patience as we work to restore light-rail service.”

Trips by bus take longer, but all affected stations will be served. Those include 46th Street, 50th Street, VA Medical Center and two stops at MSP Airport.

To the south of the airport, buses also are serving the Mall of America, 30th Avenue, Bloomington Central, American Boulevard and Terminal 2 stations.

Earlier Monday, a mechanism connecting the overhead power supply to trains at the Lake Street/ Midtown Station was damaged. That issue was resolved

Then the problem on the south end of the line popped up, Metro Transit said.

Trains are running as normal elsewhere along the line. Blue Line trains run from Target Field in downtown Minneapolis to the Mall of America in Bloomington.
