Graphics producer
Jake Steinberg is a graphics producer at the Star Tribune focusing on cartography and visual storytelling. He grew up in Oakdale and attended the University of Minnesota. After graduating with a BA in journalism in 2019, Jake moved to Arizona to work as a public radio reporter. Jake returned to the Midwest in 2021 to get a master’s degree in cartography and GIS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His maps have made it into the pages of the Wall Street Journal and been featured in the North American Cartographic Information Society’s Atlas of Design, the preeminent showcase of excellent maps. Jake lives in East Bde Maka Ska with two bikes, a rotating cast of plants and Juneau, an American dingo.
