The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Twin Cities as the heat index is expected to approach 100 degrees Tuesday.
High temperatures and humidity are predicted to cause a heat index value up to 98 degrees on Tuesday in the seven-county metro area. The heat advisory will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m.
The National Weather Service is recommending people drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors.
