Minnesota and 11 other states in the watershed of the Mississippi River will get $320 million from the federal government to clean up the river. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the program today, calling the 2,350-mile river "a critical national resource." The Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative is designed to improve water quality during the next four years in an attempt to shrink the "dead zone" the river's pollutants create in the Gulf of Mexico.

TC 10 Mile race registration is now first-come, first-served. And it opens Tuesday.

Race organizers are changing from a lottery system. Registration opens online Tuesday morning.
